For beautiful eyes that will make you the centre of attention

BLEPHAROPLASTY LOWER

Lower eyelid surgery is normally required with age as skin naturally loses its elasticity. Loose skin accumulates in the lower eyelids and collects together as folds, making the eyelids appear baggy as the muscles beneath the skin allows the fat which cushions the eyes to protrude forward.

Lower eyelid surgery can be carried out under local or general anaesthesia. Incisions are made below the eyelashes and surplus fat, excess skin and sagging muscle is removed.  For some patients, tightening the eyelid is required to correct sagging.  In some cases where only fat is being removed or added, incisions are made inside the eyelid avoiding an external incision (trans conjunctival blepharoplasty).  It is best to keep the head elevated for a few days after surgery to reduce swelling and sutures are usually removed 5 to 7 days after surgery.

FAQ's

What is Lower Blepharoplasty?

Lower Blepharoplasty is the surgical removal of surplus skin and protruding fat, commonly known as bags under the eye lids.

Am I suitable for Lower Blepharoplasty surgery?

Lower Blepharoplasty is suitable for most people, however our experienced surgeon will need to assess and advise you prior to any surgery.

How long will the procedure take?

Most Lower Blepharoplasty procedures can take as little as 30 minutes or a couple of hours before going home. We recommend someone is with you for the first 24 hrs.

What is the downtime for Lower Blepharoplasty?

After the procedure you may experience some natural swelling, bruising and stitching. Your surgeon will fully advise you on how long you should take time off work, how long you should wait before applying eye makeup and when to have your stitches taken out. The downtime to allow your lower eyelids to heal is usually between 7 to 14 days.

Will there be any visible scarring?

Blepharoplasty is one of the safest surgical procedures with minimal scarring undertaken by experienced surgeons.
