Radiofrequency treatment is a non-surgical technology that addresses the early signs of sagging and loose skin. This treatment is non-evasive and ideal for people that either don't believe they are old enough for a surgical procedure or just don't want to undergo surgery.
Radiofrequency treatment is performed with a pure radio frequency energy device and is used to treat the loose or sagging skin. Most commonly, the cheeks, mid-face, forehead, under the eyes, jaw line and neck areas are targeted and is dependent on each case. The average age of patient is between 30-50 and can be performed with any skin colour. There are minimal risks and downtime when compared to surgical procedures.
What exactly is Radio Frequency and is it safe?
Radio Frequency has been used for over 70 years in the oral, ophthalmic and gynaecological arenas. Over time RF has been introduced into the Plastic Surgery fields. RF uses low frequency alternating currents to cause contractions in muscles. With such a long history it is documented that there are very few risks.
What is involved in this procedure?
After removal of make-up and a cleanse of the face, a topical numbing cream may be used. The RF device will be navigated around the areas chosen on your face whilst the RF is being delivered. A soothing lotion may be applied after the treatment is complete.
How quickly will I recover from the treatment?
As a non-evasive procedure recovery is almost instant, there may be mild redness immediately but usually disappears quickly. Most people return to work immediately after treatment.
Are there any side effects?
There are very few side effects associated with this procedure. In rare cases there may be mild redness, bumps and blisters around the treated area however these normally clear up very quickly
