Male breast reduction is a surgical procedure used to reduce the size of a man’s breasts that have become larger than normal medically known as gynaecomastia. Usually carried out under general anaesthetic, the excess fatty tissue is sucked out using liposuction and sometimes surgical removal of the glandular breast tissue is also required. The nipples are then re-positioned if necessary.
Ideal candidates for male breast reduction are individuals with large, fatty breasts that have been unable to get rid of the excess fat through dieting and exercise alone, although causes can also include an abnormal growth of glandular breast tissue usually due to a hormone imbalance. Prior to operation each of our patients must undergo a full consultation with us to determine the desired size, shape and course of treatment.

Can Gynecomastia surgery be performed despite having a medical condition?
In some cases yes, but an initial assessment with the consultant will help to determine this.
